SELNC endorses a LCP based on the highest standards of planning. LCP’s are comprehensive and explain the recommended care that is rehabilitative, preventative, and promotes the best outcome for the injured party. SELNC follows an evidenced-based medicine approach and can effectively teach decision makers about appropriate care needs and pricing.

Law firms & insurance carriers have seen an influx in the amount of Life Care Plans required on their cases. SELNC collaborates closely with counsel, their client and providers to generate a report to help ensure injured parties live their best life possible focusing on maintaining their health, preventing complications and maintaining their physical status. Objective analysis is necessary to ensure care being projected is accurate and necessary, costs associated for services and supplies is aligned all while following LCP methodology. Once completed, our clients have a robust report to bring to the settlement table.

Life Care Plans
Defense

For our defense clients, a full records review is completed so a foundation is set to understand the defendant's injuries. Next, SELNC looks for unsupported care, discrepancies in both documentation and recommendations, fees for services listed are based on usual and customary based on jurisdictional venue, considers evidenced based medicine, current standards of care and will ensure that the suggested medical needs are supported. When it is time to negotiate, clients have the tools and verbiage to discuss their cases.

Cost Estimates

When a full LCP is not needed, but a high-level estimate is required which may include limited items such as procedure(s), medication(s), durable medical equipment (DME) for example, a cost estimate may be an efficient solution.

Jennifer Simoes BSN RN CLNC CLCP

I am a nurse with over 30 years of experience in a variety of specialty fields and continue to practice clinically as a critical care nurse in an intensive care unit in Charlotte, NC. As a lifelong student, I am currently pursuing my MSN and enjoy providing medical educational trainings to attorney firms as well as insurance companies. I received my Certified Life Care Planner Certification from International Commission on Health Care Certification (ICHCC) and my Certified Legal Nurse Consultant Certification from Vickie Milazzo / Medical-Legal Consulting Institute in 2007.

From a consulting perspective, I have 16 years of insurance defense experience with 10 of those working on a nurse team dedicated to catastrophic injury cases across the country. The exposure afforded me the ability to get a flavor for jurisdictional venues, various court systems, and the understanding of policy/coverage. Oil & Gas and NY Labor Law are specialized arenas and my knowledge base in these business lines is extensive.

Once called a "powerhouse" by one of my peers, I am passionate about what I do, pay close attention to detail, am highly driven, and have a distinct perspective and insight to claims. Attorneys are often pleasantly surprised that I can assist with medical, talk coverage and aggravating factors!
